National Emergency Operations Center NEOC Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says 40 others traveled on the same flight as the person who tested positive for Covid-19 in GA. Maamendhoo.
Updating the local media on the latest developments from the Covid-19 crisis, Mabrook said that the flight carrying the positive case from Maamendhoo traveled to Kuddoo and then directly to Maamendhoo.
He also said individuals from Gemanafushi of the same atoll also traveled on the flight. Mabrook said that the person who tested for Covid-19 in Maamendhoo after traveling to Male’, stayed at a guesthouse in the Capital and that the individual stayed there two other relatives.
Mabrook said that the individual was tested for Covid-19 on the 6th of this month and that the person tested negative for the illness then.
He said that the person returned Maamendhoo on the 13th of this month and reported having symptoms on the 14th of this month. Mabrook said even though the sample was taken on the 14th, it was transported back to Male’ on the night of the 15th and the results of the sample came back yesterday.
HPA has yet to decide the course of action to be taken in regard to Maamendhoo and Gemanafushi following the positive case. HPA had said that the individuals who traveled to these islands were now under home quarantined and that the next course of action would be taken once contact tracing for the case is completed.
