Health Protection Agency HPA says more than 1500 people have now recovered from Covid-19 in the Maldives as the country enters into the second phase of lockdown ease.

In a tweet, HPA reported that today 229 people recovered from Covid-19 in the Maldives today taking the total number of recoveries to a promising 1540.

HPA also said that 362 people remained in isolation while 356 individuals are currently under quarantine at various facilities.

Meanwhile, 30 people tested positive for Covid-19 today.

HPA said that this includes 16 Maldivians, 13 Bangladeshis, and a Nepalese national. This takes the total number of positive cases in the Maldives to 2065.

Out of those more than 1000 are Bangladeshi migrant workers living in the Maldives.

More than 700 locals have also tested positive for Covid-19 while 192 Indians and 29 Nepalese nationals have also tested positive for the virus here in the Maldives.

The Maldives has recorded 8 Covid-19 related deaths including four locals and four Bangladeshi nationals.
