Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will be increasing the frequency of ferry and bus trips, under the second phase of lockdown ease.
According to the state-owned enterprise providing public transport services, the trips are increased in light of Maldives government lifting certain restrictions on lockdown effective from Monday, 15 June.
The revised and increased schedule of operational hours are:
Hulhumale' Premium Ferry:
- First ferry (everyday except for Fridays): HMLE at 06:00hrs and MLE at 06:30hrs
- Last ferry (everyday except for Fridays): HMLE at 21:00hrs and MLE at 21:30hrs
- First ferry (Friday exclusive): HMLE at 06:00hrs and MLE at 06:30hrs
- Last ferry (Friday exclusive): HMLE at 20:30hrs and MLE at 21:00hrs
- Total 30 trips through premium ferry on Fridays and 38 trips on every other day
Thilafushi Ferry:
- First ferry (operational everyday): from Thilafushi at 08:00hrs, from Male' at 08:30hrs
- Last ferry (operational everyday): from Thilafushi at 22:00hrs, from Male' at 21:30hrs
- Total of 18 trips everyday
Vilimale' Ferry:
- First ferry (everyday except for Fridays): VMLE at 05:45hrs and MLE at 06:00hrs
- Last ferry (everyday except for Fridays): VMLE at 01:00hrs and MLE at 02:00hrs
- First ferry (Friday exclusive): VMLE at 05:45hrs and MLE at 06:00hrs
- Last ferry (Friday exclusive): VMLE at 01:00hrs and MLE at 02:00hrs
- Total 140 trips on Fridays and 150 trips on every other day
The ferry between Male' and Gulhifalhu will depart at 08:00hrs from Gulhifalhu everyday at 07:15hrs from Male'. The last ferry will depart at 21:00hrs from Gulhifalhu and at 20:30hrs from Male'. MTCC will conduct a total of 10 trips everyday between the two islands.
Meanwhile the bus trips will be increased in its frequency, which includes travel destinations between Male' and Velana International Airport (VIA) and vice-versa.
