Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that the number of positive cases of global pandemic in the Maldives has now reached 2003.

In the latest update, HPA said an additional 27 people tested positive for illness including 14 Maldivians, 12 Bangladeshis, and an Indian national.

In another development, a 65-year-old woman in Addu Equatorial Quarantine facility tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday. HPA had said that she was taken to transit quarantine from Male’ and that she shared a quarantine room with her granddaughter who tested negative.

HPA has said that a total of 700 Maldivians have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives with 1050 Bangladeshi nationals tested positive for the illness in the country.

Meanwhile, HPA said that 40 more individuals have recovered from the illness in the Maldives, taking the total recoveries to a promising 1193. This also means that only 800 cases are active with 8 individuals hospitalized for treatment.

The Maldives has recorded 8 Covid-19 related deaths in the country including 4 locals and 4 Bangladeshis. The locals who died include an 83-year-old woman, an 80-year-old man, an 88-year-old man, and an 89-year-old woman.
