MP for Dhagethi Constituency and Former Defense Minister Colonel Retired Nazim donates 6000 PPE to Maldivian taxi drivers.

In a tweet, Nazim said Maldivian drivers work long hours and put in a lot of hard work. He said to appreciate their work his foundation has donated 6000 PPE equipment to the drivers Association. He said that this includes hand sanitizer bottles, facemasks and gloves.

Taxi drivers have recently voiced concerns that the authorities have not provided enough safety material that would ensure their protection.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula met with the top management of the taxi and pickup center operating in the greater Male’ Area.

The Ministry said that the Minister had the meeting online last night.

The Ministry also said that the Ministry listened to the concerns raised by the taxi and pickup centers and went on to discuss how these concerns can be solved.

Minister Nahula had said that the Covid-19 pandemic had disrupted the workflow of taxi and pick up drivers in the Male Area and have threatened their livelihood. She said that the Ministry was working to find ways to mitigate the damages done by Covid-19 as the whole economy took a major hit during the ongoing crisis.
