Leading Pediatrician Dr. Ahmed Faisal says the number of children infected with Covid-19 in the Maldives has now risen to 100.
He confirmed this in a tweet earlier today.
Dr. Faisal said compared to other countries, the number of Covid-19 infections among children in the Maldives is alarmingly high.
He also said that two of these children have been admitted to the ICU for further treatment and those were infants below 8 months. The doctor said that both the infants were treated for having fever and one infant was also treated for vomiting and diarrhea.
Dr. Faisal reassured that both the infants were making speedy recoveries.
Health Protection Agency HPA statistics show that 107 children below 18 have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives. This includes 59 boys and 48 girls. The statistics also show that 55 children below 10 years of age have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives. This includes 25 girls and 30 boys.
