Health Protection Agency HPA’s top epidemiologist Dr. Ibrahim Afzal has reminded citizens to take their national Identity cards when going out of their homes.

Speaking at the latest press briefing by NEOC Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said individuals must wear facemasks and carry their ID cards when stepping outside.

He said each individual must carry their ID cards because they might have to give their samples for a Covid-19 test as part of the active surveillance testing carried out by HPA officials.

Dr. Afzal also said for houses under monitoring once the HPA takes the individual suspected of Covid-19, HPA will take Covid-19 samples from the rest of the residents of the house. He said that these individuals would be allowed to go to the ground floor of the house to provide their samples to the RRT and these individuals must wear masks even if they are just going downstairs to provide the samples.

The rapid response team in charge of taking Covid-19 samples has said that with the increase of Covid-19 cases, the team had no qualms about individuals going to the ground floor of their residential buildings to give their Covid-19 samples.

With 24377 Covid-19 samples taken, 1773 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives.
