Maldives Customs Services says two staff from the agency tested positive for Covid-19 in the country.
Answering a question from a reporter at today’s online news conference, Deputy Commissioner of Customs Abdullah Shareef said 2 employees of customs had tested positive for Covid-19.
He added that both these individuals have now recovered from the illness.
The deputy commissioner also said that 50 employees from Customs were kept under isolation and quarantine at various stages and that currently 30 employees still remain under isolation or quarantine.
He also said that when the virus was first discovered in the Maldives, around 17 custom officers were placed under home quarantine after contacting Maldivians that came back from abroad.
Shareef also said a team of customs officers have been assisting the National Emergency Operations Center NEOC to carry out disinfections and that these officers have been working like this for more than a month. He thanked the customs team for its services in the fight against the global pandemic Covid-19.
