NEOC spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says 119 individuals were released from quarantine facilities yesterday.

Updating the local media on the latest developments from the Covid-19 crisis, Mabrook said these 119 individuals were released after they completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine period and after they tested negative for Covid-19 twice.

Mabrook also said that samples have been taken from 98 others currently under quarantine.

A total of 1478 individuals remain under quarantine at various facilities while the government is hosting 1291 at the isolation facilities. Also, 2671 remains under transit quarantine waiting to go back to their islands after staying in Male’ Area.

The number of Covid-19 cases has spiked to 1672 in the Maldives yesterday while 401 individuals have now made recoveries from the illness in the country.

The Maldives has recorded 5 Covid-19 related death including three locals and two Bangladeshi nationals.
