Maldives Police services say individuals can now obtain the permit to travel from one island to another through the police portal.
Police confirmed this change in a tweet earlier today.
However, it did not clarify the rules pertaining to applying for such permits.
Yesterday, Health Protection Agency HPA had allowed islands without Covid-19 to resume public services including social and economic services. HPA also said that islanders are now allowed to move within the island itself but cautioned that inhabitants must adhere to social distancing practices even if the restrictive measures were lifted.
Under the HPA directive, restrictive measures were lifted from all islands except Male’ Area, islands under monitoring, and islands within the 14-day duration post monitoring.
