State has permitted public transportation of ferries and buses in Greater Male' Region, while strictly adhering to safety measures.

Maldives government announced some ease on lockdown regulations on Wednesday evening, 27 May.

During the state declaration of easing on the restrictive measures, it was confirmed public transportation of buses and ferries are set to recommence with special provisions.

According to the new standard, seats of public transportation modes; ferry vessels and buses will have seating arrangements to maximize public safety.

Seats allowed for sitting will be visibly marked in buses and ferries; with ample distance between people.

Moreover, members of the public must adhere to wearing face masks at all times while traveling via public transportation options.

Meanwhile, buses and ferries have been ordered to utilize hand-sanitizers at all times for public disposal. Morever, buses will have its windows open for proper ventilation.

Other eases on transportation include relaxation of measures on taxi-cabs and pick-ups.
