Authorities are investigating a case of sexual assault by an officer of Maldives Police Service against a locally employed nurse.
Sources confirm the nurse, who is currently dispatched at the quarantine facility in Hulhule' Island Hotel (HIH), recently became the sexual assault victim of a local law enforcement officer who also was dispatched to the same site.
Moreover, it was confirmed the case was investigated primarily through Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) upon request of one of its senior staff.
A source speaking from HIH claimed they had not observed any suspicious behaviors or incidents regarding the case, however both the subjects of the case were observed maintaining visible rapport between the them.
The source from HIH further notified the suspected incident had taken place on occasion of Fitr Eid - the Islamic festivities followed immediately after the holy month of Ramadan.
Though the officer is alleged of sexual assault, the source claims there have been no substantial evidence to tie the officer to the claim.
Meanwhile, IGMH remain unavailable for a comment regarding the case.
