Health Protection Agency HPA officials say an additional ten individuals have recovered from the Covid-19 illness in the Maldives.

These new numbers take the total recoveries in the country to 154.

Authorities have said that the rate of recoveries in the Maldives is slow and has since decided to re-test positive patients after 21 days of isolation instead of the 14 days set before.

Meanwhile, 24 people tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday in the Maldives taking the total number of cases in the country to a staggering 1395.

A total of 498 Maldivians have contracted Covid-19 with almost 900 foreigners tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives. Most are Bangladeshi nationals with 706 cases confirmed till now.

The Maldives has recorded 4 Covid-19 including three locals and a Bangladeshi national.

All the locals who died of Covid-19 were over 80-years of age with underlying health issues.
