Earlier in the press briefing, NEOC officials had said that in the last 24hrs three people have recovered from the viral illness and that the total number of recoveries stands at 112.

NEOC did not give details on the 15 new recoveries it had confirmed in this latest update.

The number of positive cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives has now reached 1313 yesterday with 39 new cases reported last night.

Maldives has recorded four deaths from Covid-19 with three locals above 80-years of age dying of the illness along with a Bangladeshi national aged 33.

The news of the recoveries come as the government looks to ease some of the restrictive measures it has taken against Covid-19. It had already permitted islands that are not under monitoring or had been under monitoring for the past 28 days to begin communal prayers. Also, the government is contemplating whether or not to relax the lockdown currently implemented in the Male’ Area where the virus is rampant.
