The Maldives Ministry of Islamic Affairs have declared a 14-day period post revocation of monitoring before communal prayers are allowed.
According to the ministry, islands placed under monitoring will have to remain barred from communal prayers for a duration of 14 days after the monitoring status on said islands are relieved.
Meanawhile the ministry has permitted islands excluded from HPA monitoring to recommence communal prayers.
The islands under monitoring and within 14-day duration post monitoring include;
- Male' City (under monitoring)
- Shaviyani atoll Narudhoo (under monitoring)
- Noonu atoll Manadhoo (under monitoring)
- Kaafu atoll Himmafushi (observing 14-day duration since monitoring revocation)
- Kaafu atoll Thulusdhoo (observing 14-day duration since monitoring revocation)
- Haa Alif atoll Thakandhoo (observing 14-day duration since monitoring revocation)
- Shaviyani atoll Milandhoo (observing 14-day duration since monitoring revocation)
The ministry temporarily banned congregational prayers following doctors' advice to ensure effective curbing of the Covid-19 virus, in islands where community outbreak have been announced.
The ban expanded nationwide to further ensure the spread of disease was controlled at a maximum by restricting public gathering.
