Health authorities have confirmed more patients recovering from the Covid-19 virus, in the Maldives.

According to authorities the latest confirmed batch of recovery included 6 patients who earlier contracted the disease.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) claimed on Tuesday the total number of recoveries in the Maldives, with the newest 6 cases, have increased to 80.

The latest cases included two individuals who reported making recovery on Monday, 18 May and 16 recoveries recorded on the preceding day, 17 May.

Maldives report a total of 1106 confirmed positive cases of the Covid-19 virus discovered in the country - mostly from the Greater Male' Region, as it has been threatened with a community outbreak.

While 80 patients have recovered from the disease, 13 individuals have been hospitalized for treatment.

There have been only 4 deaths reported from Maldives related to the virus, which included 3 elderly Maldivian citizens and one middle-aged expatriate.

Greater Male' Region, which remains under total lockdown since 15 April have been experiencing surges in positive case discovery while HPA speculate a peak of infection in the region, expected within upcoming week or two.
