Health Protection Agency HPA appeals to citizens of Male’ area to assign one individual from each household to go outside for groceries shopping in a bid to contain the rapidly spreading Covid-19 virus in the capital.

Speaking to the media via an online news conference, HPA epidemiologist Dr. Ibrahim Afzal said residents should now adopt the habit of assigning an individual from each household for grocery shopping.

Dr. Afzal said this individual must also maintain self-hygiene and should wash their hands frequently with soap. He also said that households must now buy a weeks worth of groceries to avoid frequent visits to the shops or delivery of goods.

Meanwhile, Male City council has been gearing up for the new normal by drawing markings on the streets outside of markets and malls to help increase the space between one another and to avoid gatherings.

It has said that this would aid in social distancing as it the best practice to help prevent the spread of the virus in a country.
