The investigation meetings regarding the nationwide scandal related to Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have commenced virtually.
Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed on Thursday made confirmation of the joint investigation supervisory group's virtual meeting regarding the corruption scandal. The meeting continued on a virtual platform as confirmed by CP Hameed.
"Just completed a good meeting of MMPRC Corruption's Joint Investigation Supervisory Group" Hameed tweeted, adding "Decisions made to line up more resources and adopt a more aggressive approach."
The investigation is collaborated between Maldives Police Service, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) of Maldives and the special Asset Recovery Commission formed by Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
During the recent committee meeting on independent commissions, ACC claimed the investigation was stalled due to the ongoing lockdown.
Former Vice President of Maldives Ahmed Adeeb and former MMPRC Managing Director Abdulla Ziyath were convicted for the corruption. However, state moved to revoke the verdicts and press new charges.
