Authorities on Wednesday, confirmed 08 more patients who contracted the Covid-19 virus have made recoveries.

Earlier authorities had reported of total recoveries reaching to 32, and with the latest development the total recoveries have improved to 40.

On Wednesday, Health Protection Agency (HPA) had reported of 51 new cases surging the total number of positive cases in Maldives to 955 and 923 active cases.

However, with the latest additional 8 recoveries the active cases have dropped to 915.

The latest development was confirmed during the press briefing at National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, authorities had earlier forecast the country will likely face a surge in Covid-19 positive cases in the coming two-week period.

The total lockdown exercised on Greater Male' Region will be due by 14 May, Thursday. As of now, it is uncertain whether government will extend the duration once again.
