Maldives government has announced it was seeking interested contractors for the Maafaru International Airport expansion.

Ministry of Finance had announced seeking parties interested to contract for the project on a turnkey basis.

According to the ministry, submission for the pre-qualification application will be applicable until 11 June, and is currently open.

The pre-qualification application must be complemented with a fee of MVR500, which will be accepted until 10 June and paid through the government's online payment portal.

Ministry of Finance further noted information and inquiry window will remain effective until 25 May.

Maafaru International Airport opened on 01 January 2020 following successful wheel down of test flights.

Government aims to expand the international airport to facilitate Boeing-777s and similar class flights.
