Health Protection Agency Epidemiologist Dr. Ibrahim Afzal says another person has recovered from Covid-19 in the Maldives.

Speaking to the media via an online news conference, Dr. Afzal said case 95 has recovered from the virus yesterday.

Case 95 is a 38-year-old Bangladeshi national from the AMD cluster of cases. The individual was tested positive for Covid-19 on the 22nd of April.

This takes the number of recovered cases in the Maldives to 31.

Meanwhile, the Health Protection Agency had said that officials have taken blood samples from recovered Covid-19 patients in the Maldives to test for antibodies that fight the virus.

Speaking the ‘The Press’ NEOC spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said such samples have been taken and that they were taken for research purposes.

A number of countries are doing antibodies testing for research purposes with global efforts to make a vaccine for the highly contagious virus yet to bear fruit.
