The ADK Hospital confirmed 12 of its staff have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

The hospital's Managing Director Ahmed Affaal has corroborated the news, adding none of the positively tested were doctors, nurses or technical staff.

ADK Managing Director further confirmed preventative measures have already been strictly adhered.

Affaal continued explaining the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, urges patients with symptoms to contact designated focal points.

Employees with symptoms of the virus will be immediately placed in quarantine and restricted from continuing work or duty.

Affaal further clarified at least 5 individuals from the hospital's accommodation block at Hulhumale' showed signs to the disease.

The accommodation block in question was then immediately brought under quarantine, restricing movement outside the premises for its residents. All ADK staff taking residence in the accommodation block were restricted from joining their duties.

Samples were acquired from the 5 individuals projecting symptoms to the disease, as well as 10 more random samples were acquired from other residents of the accommodation block.

ADK confirmed the 12 patients who tested positive for the virus were discovered from the said batch. The hospital's management further confirmed all positively tested patients have been transferred to an isolation facility.
