National Emergency Operations Center NEOC Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said another individual has recovered from Covid-19 in the Maldives.

Speaking to the media, Mabrook said with this update 30 people have now recovered from the global pandemic in the Maldives.

It has been revealed that the latest individual to recover is case 86, a 31-year-old local man. He tested positive for the virus on the 21st of April and is from the AMH cluster of cases.

A total of 835 people have tested positive for Covid-19 cases with officials recording a surge in cases the past couple of days. Health experts have said that the current surge would hit a peak on the 31st of this month with around 1600 cases reported on the day.

Rumors have been floating on social media that the government is holding high-level discussions about the stricter lockdown measures amid the current surge in cases. But NEOC spokesperson had dismissed these rumors saying that the current measures would remain in place with no further restrictions planned.
