Health Protection Agency HPA epidemiologist Dr. Afzal Ibrahim says a 4-year-old was among those tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

Speaking to reporters via a virtual news conference, Dr. Afzal said the average age of those who tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday was between 18 to 40 years. He added that most of the Covid-19 patients in the country were from this age range.

Health Ministry’s Dashboard on Covid-19 showed that an 8-year-old, a 10-year-old, and a 4-year-old had also been tested for Covid-19 in the country yesterday.

A few days back a seven-month-old infant was also tested positive for Covid-19. Dr. Afzal confirmed that the infant is now under treatment at Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumale. He also said a total of 9 Covid-19 patients are being treated at the hospital as TTH has now been declared as the primary Covid-19 health facility in the country.

Giving an update on the critical patients admitted in Dharumavantha Hospital, 11th floor DH11, Dr. Afzal said 3 people are still under treatment in the ICU and that two are currently on ventilator support.

He added that the 3rd individual is an 80-year-old woman.
