Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that an 80-year-old Maldivian man has died from Covid-19 in the Maldives.
The individual died while being treated at the ICU of Dharumavantha Hospital 11th floor DH11
Doctors have previously said that the person had been on oxygen support following complications.
The individual, Case 81, was hospitalized on April 20th. Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital’s pulmonologist Dr. Moosa Hussain had said the next day that the patient was under critical condition.
Dr. Moosa had explained that the individual had been bedridden for two years and was bedridden after suffering a stroke. He also said the individual had several underlying health issues such as diabetics, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
Five other Covid-19 patients remain in DH11 ICU two of which are now on the ventilator.
With this death, a total of three people have died of Covid-19 in the Maldives. This includes an 83-year-old local woman and a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national.
