Health Protection Agency HPA confirms 6 additional cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives as authorities warn of a spike of infections in the next two weeks.
In a tweet, HPA said 5 Maldivians and 1 Bangladeshi national tested positive for the virus today.
This takes the total positive cases to 557.
This includes 196 locals and 361 foreigners. Most of the foreigners are Bangladeshi nationals with 283 from the country, tested positive in the country.
18 people have recovered from the virus in the Maldives.
But last week an elderly woman died after contracting the virus in Male’. HPA had earlier placed her residence under monitoring but failed to test the individual for Covid-19 in a timely manner.
Health Minister Abdullah Ameen had ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.
