Health Protection Agency HPA epidemiologist Dr. Ibrahim Afzal says 39 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 without having any contact with any previous cases of the virus in the country.

Addressing the media, Dr. Afzal said several individuals have tested positive for the virus without prior contact with any positive cases of Covid-19 and that such individuals have been isolated.

He added that it is highly unlikely that such individuals would spread the virus to others.

But he said if such cases surface more frequently, then this would mean that the scope of the spread is much greater than expected.

Dr. Afzal reiterated that the most likely sources of virus spread are the shoppers who visit different stores. He said if such a person contracts the virus, it would be really challenging to find how the individual got infected.

Health Ministry Dashboard on Covid-19 showed that 20 people were tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday taking the country’s total to 551.
