Maldives Ministry of Tourism have confirmed a flight bound from Ukraine have been scheduled to fly out stranded tourists and expatriates in the island nation.
A press statement from the ministry confirmed a flight of Ukraine's SkyUp Airlines is bound to Maldives on 08 May. The flight is expected to repatriate the current stranded tourists and expatriates in the island nation.
Ministry of Tourism further claimed the standard procedure for tourists and expatriates requesting seats on the repatriation flight, have been specified under the ministry's circular published on Sunday.
The state body have requested all tourist facilities to adhere to the procedures cited in the circular, adding transfer to Velana International Airport (VIA) should be arranged through Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourist Police.
Recently Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed claimed tourists from 50 countries were still stranded in 10 local tourist resorts, unable to fly out over state imposed travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.
