Health Minister Abdullah Ameen has visited Sh. Narudhoo in solidarity with the Island that has seen several Covid-19 cases.
Minister Ameen visited the island aboard a direct seaplane.
Speaking to ‘The Press’ the island council said that Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdullah Shamaal, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed and Technical Advisory Group Leader Dr. Ali Latheef joined the Minister’s trip.
The council said the HPA delegation held discussions with island’s Covid-19 taskforce and visited the Health center before departing from the island.
Several sources from the Island that spoke to ‘The Press’ said that the doctor and two nurses working in the health center have been placed under quarantine and that the only practicing nurse is one brought in from Sh. Funadhoo.
One islander said Narudhoo had a shortage of surgical gloves and masks and it would have been more helpful if the officials have provided these materials instead of making this trip.
11 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Narudhoo with HPA confirming that a community spread of the virus has been identified within the island.
