Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdullah Fairoosh says existing delivery permits issued for outlets, vehicles, and staff would be invalidated after 48hrs as law enforcement looks to tighten lockdown measures currently in place in Male’ Area.

Speaking to the media, Fairoosh said the existing delivery permits would be canceled after 48hrs starting from 12:00hrs today. This means the existing delivery permits would be canceled on Saturday at 12:00hrs.

He said police would issue new delivery permits starting from 12:00pm today. He said the existing permits were revoked as they did not have security features and because it had come to the attention of the police that some people were taking advantage of the permits.

He said no individual had yet been punished for misusing the delivery permits but these permits have been revoked.

The Assistant Commissioner also said the delivery permits contain a QR code and police on petrol can easily verify the zone assigned to the permit holder.
