Maldives Speaker have alleged Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen's apparent breach of Constitutional provisions.

The speaker's allegation aimed at the minister was in fact referral to the delay of response from minister Ameen's end to local parliamentarian Ahmed Haitham. The lawmaker had sent a letter seeking accountability and answers from the minister.

Parliament held the minister culpable in accordance with Section 98 of Maldives Constitution and Section 80 of Parliament Act of Maldives citing 14-day answerable period for cabinet ministers to inquiries made in written or any other means.

The 14-day period, with accordance to Section 74 of Parliament Act, became due on Monday, 27 April.

Speaker, Mohamed Nasheed criticized minister Ameen for his inability to respond past deadline.

Though the parliament released a stern statement against the minister, it had not specified any prospective course disciplinary or punitive action against him.
