Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirms 17 new cases of COVID-19 patients in Maldives since the last update on early hours of Tuesday.

The authority on Tuesday early morning reported discovery of cases MAV0227 and MAV0228 - a local and a Bangladeshi national respectively.

Moments earlier, the authority around 15:15hrs on 28 April confirmed the discovery of the 17 new cases identified as MAV0229 to MAV0245.

HPA further attested the new confirmed cases included excluding the details of cas MAV0229, 9 Bangladeshis, 4 Indians and 3 Maldivians.

As of now Maldives reports a total of 245 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus.

Ministry of Health's dashboard confirm 1210 remain in quarantine and 213 individuals in isolation.

The latest data from the ministry reveals 228 actives cases, 17 recoveries and 1 hospitalization with a 0 percent mortality rate; meaning no deaths reported from Maldives so far with regards to the virus.
