National Emergency Operations Center NEOC Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says 4 vessels have been placed under monitoring with the country now fighting a full-fledged outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

Speaking to the media, Mabrook said the vessels currently under monitoring include Amaaz boat, Dhururaasthaa-8, Kaaviya Boat, and Noofaru express. He clarified that Dhururaasthaa-8 was a fishing vessel.

Mabrook added that a total of 253 places were now under monitoring following the community spread of the global pandemic.

Looking closely into the vessels under monitoring, Amaaz boat is a vessel that makes trips to the north of the country. The boat left port from Male’ with 98 onboard on the 15th of April before the capital city was placed under lockdown. Health Protection Agency HPA had recently confirmed that the captain of this vessel had tested positive for Covid-19 and placed several islands under monitoring with regard to this case.
