Health Minister Abdullah Ameen says the public should ready themselves to quarantine at home in case the situation arises.
Addressing the media, this afternoon, Minister said with the recent spike in positive cases in the Maldives, officials now believe that the pandemic is wide spread in the country. He added that the spread of the illness does match the projections made by the health experts in the country.
Minister Ameen said greater efforts are required to control the current spread of Covid-19 in the country.
Ameen said current discussions focused on housing positive patients in a separate island for treatment. He added that health professionals are exchanging ideas daily and in the worst-case scenario each individual should be ready to quarantine themselves in their homes.
Emphasizing the work of the medical teams in treating the positive patients, Minister Ameen said high-risk cases as well as positive patients would be prioritized. He said the officials would also focus on testing direct contacts of the positive cases.
Today’s positive cases have taken the total number of positive patients in the country to 137.
