Health Protection Agency HPA says 8 more Maldivians have tested positive for Covid-19 today.
In a tweet, HPA said this takes the total number of cases to 137. HPA had said that this includes 68 locals and 69 foreigners.
17 people have now recovered from the illness with 118 still under treatment for the virus.
HPA said 153 people are currently under isolation at various facilities and 1342 individuals remained under quarantine.
HPA confirmed that a total of 5656 samples have been taken to test for the virus and that 281 remain pending in the laboratory.
Male' Area has been under lockdown since 15th of this month with movement restrictions in Male', Hulhumale' and Villimale'. Authorities have also banned non-essential travel between the islands in the country.
