Health Protection Agency HPA says 9 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in Male’ today.

In a tweet, HPA said the infected included four Maldivians and five Bangladeshi nationals. It said the individuals would now be moved to an isolation facility.

Today’s positive cases takes the number of positive cases in the capital Male’ to 74.

A total of 95 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives.

Male’ area is currently under lockdown with only delivery businesses with valid passes allowed on the streets. Police have also issued passes to one person from each household to buy essential items within 1 hour every three days.

Officials have said that the current lockdown measures have slowed down the viral outbreak in the congested Male’ but warned against easing these measures.
