Health Protection Agency HPA’s Dr. Ibrahim Afzal says an individual who works for State Trading Organization STO is among those tested positive for Covid-19.
Addressing the media, Dr. Afzal said the Maldivian national, referred as Case 86 has been connected to Case 36. He said case 86 works for STO as a security guard and that the person occasionally drives a taxi for living. Dr. Afzal said the person was related to Amin hiya case, which is the first Bangladeshi to test positive for the highly contagious illness in Maldives.
Dr. Afzal explained that case 86 started showing symptoms last Wednesday and that it was the day the first case from Male’ was confirmed.
Dr. Afzal said 3 people who lived in the house where a contact of Amin Hiya case had stayed have all tested positive for Covid-19. He said there were cases 74, 75 and 83. Dr. Afzal said the STO staff had also stayed in the house a while back.
Dr. Afzal confirmed that 7 individuals have been identified as contacts of case 86.
66 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Male’ alone since last Wednesday. This has taken the country’s Covid-19 cases to 86.
