Health Protection Agency HPA says 2 Maldivians from Male’ have tested positive for Covid-12 as the community spread of the pandemic widens in the country.
In a tweet late last night, HPA said 2 Maldivians who showed Covid-19 like symptoms were tested after presenting at the flu clinic in Male’. HPA said that their tests came back positive for Covid-19.
HPA added that the individuals would be moved to an Isolation Facility.
With these new additions a total of 66 individuals have now contracted Covid-19 in Male’ alone. The country’s total positive cases now stand at 86.
The community spread of Covid-19 has escalated in Maldives in an alarming rate since the first case of the virus was reported in Male’ on the 15th of this month.
Male’ Area is now currently a lockdown with police enforcing the order with strict measures. Police had said those found outdoors without valid passes would be fined and if the offense is repeated would be arrested for disobedience.
