Health Protection Agency HPA’s Medical Officer Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq says the two Bangladeshi nationals who tested positive for Covid-19 in Male’ today works for retail giants Ihusaan fihaara.

Speaking to reporters via online conference, Dr. Nazla said two of the cases confirmed in Male’, Case 59 and Case 60 are 2 Bangladeshis who work at ihusaan fihaara.

Dr. Nazla said contact tracing of the cases were ongoing and that will reveal more information on the matter.

Health officials had warned that foreign workers living in congested quarters in Male’ would be most vulnerable in case of a community spread of the virus.

16 Foreigners tested positive for the virus yesterday including 13 Bangladeshi nationals living in the same housing quarters.

HPA announced that 6 foreigners have tested positive for Covid-19 today alone.

Meanwhile, government had announced that it would be sending back 70 undocumented Bangladeshi nationals back to their country today.
