Local authorities have fined a total of 39 individuals for violating the lockdown regulations exercised in Greater Male' Region since 15 April, Wednesday.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police of Maldives Police Service Dr Abdulla Fairoosh confirmed all 39 individuals were fined with MVR1,000 for breaking the lockdown regulations.
Additionally, local law enforcement had apprehended 92 persons on Saturday who were out on road while Greater Male' region was exercising a complete lockdown.
Maldives Police Service arrested over 70 individuals on Friday for going out without valid permits.
Meanwhile, Maldives government has declared a 14-day total lockdown on Greater Male' Region after the first positive case of COVID-19 was discovered in Maldives capital.
Maldives Police have claimed individuals found out on road without valid permits will be fined and transferred to quarantine facilities.
