Official spokesperson on Covid-19 Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez says there are 3 children and a pregnant women among those tested positive for Covid-19 in Male’.
Speaking to the media online from Dharubaaruge, Mabrouk said the cases from Male’ have been categorized into 3 clusters. He said 14 individuals have now tested positive for Covid-19 including 7 women, 3 children and 4 men. HPA reported an additional positive case after the press conference with reports saying the latest to test positive is a Maldivian man living in Male’.
Mabrouk said a pregnant woman was among those tested positive for the virus and that doctors are monitoring her condition closely. He added that all the positive cases from Male’ were progressing well with no complications of the illness.
Authorities are warning that the current projection of the virus spread shows that it will hit peak in 14 days. They have warned that if the spread of the virus is not slowed down, the outbreak will hit its peak at a rate where the country’s healthcare system will not be able to cope with the flood of cases.
