Health Protection Agency HPA says a sample taken from a Maldivian national who was a direct contact of Case 27 has tested positive for Covid-19.
In a tweet, HPA confirmed that this is the 9th person to test positive for Covid-19 in Male’ City.
HPA added that the person has been transferred to an insolation facility.
In the last 24hrs six Maldivian nationals have tested positive for the virus in Male’ alone.
HPA had said that two of these cases, Case 27 and 28 were tested positive after presenting to the flu clinics with Covid-19 like symptoms.
HPA had said with this there are now 3 active clusters of virus spread within the community.
Greater Male’ Area have now been placed under a 14 day lockdown with police assuring that stronger measures will be taken against any who violate the lockdown order.
