Health Protection Agency HPA’s Medical Officer Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq says latest model of the Covid-19 project in Maldives shows that the spread of the virus will hit its peak in 14 days.
Briefing the media on the latest developments of the Covid-19 Crisis, Dr. Nazla said officials have updated the projection model after the discovery of a Covid-19 case in Male’ Area.
She said the days ahead would be hard and all must be made aware of the danger it brings.
Dr. Nazla called on the public to further its cooperation before the peak hits and that contact tracing will also be smoother with more help from the public.
Dr. Nazla urged that anyone with covid-19 like symptoms should report to HPA immediately.
The HPA Medical Officer said directs contacts of positive cases are being tested for the virus regardless of whether they show symptoms or not. She added the number of cases was increasing as a result of such action.
Male’ Area reported its first case of Covid-19 on last Wednesday. Since then 7 others have now tested positive for Covid-19 in Male’ alone.
Two of these cases have no relations to the other positive cases.
