Health Protection Agency HPA extends the lockdown currently implemented in Male’ Area for an additional 24 hours.

HPA announced the lockdown after a Maldivian national living in Male’ was tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday having presented at Male’ Flu Clinic with Covid-19 like symptoms.

Since then, two others who were in direct contact with this individual have also tested positive for Covid-19 including a toddler.

HPA said fourteen others have been isolated after showing symptoms of the illness and were identified as contacts of the first positive case from Male’.

HPA ordered the complete restriction of movement and stopping public transport services for 24hrs in the Greater Male’ Area.

HPA had said driving vehicles and entering public spaces are prohibited in Male’ Vilimale’ and Hulhumale.

It also said travel from Male’, Vilimale’, Hulhumale, Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu is banned during the lockdown.
