Health Protection Agency HPA has announced that Male’ City is now under lockdown for 24hrs.
HPA took the precaution after a Maldivian living in Male’ City tested positive for Covid-19 having sought treatment at Male’ Flu clinic.
HPA notice on the lockdown said that pedestrians and vehicles are prohibited on the roads of Male’, Villimale and Hulhumale for the next 24hrs.
HPA said public transport in these areas would also be banned during this time.
HPA said all unauthorized entry and exit from Male’, Villimale, Hulhumale, Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu has now been prohibited.
HPA said following are exempted from the lockdown order:
- MNDF and Police
- HealthCare Professionals and their vehiclies
- Ambulance
- Holders of National Emergency Operation Center (NOEC) Pass
- Medias with NOEC pass
Government has been taking precautionary measures to deter the massive spread of Covid-19 in the country.
