Maldives government have announced its decision to facilitate delivery of care packages to locals and Maldivian families residing at United Arab Emirates.

Government's decision come amid the viral pandemic COVID-19 outbreak, which has gravely affected on global aviation industry.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday confirmed locals currently living at UAE have faced difficulties in procuring items of necessity.

A designated flight from Maldivian Airline have been scheduled for 17 April 2020, which will be used to deliver care packages to locals and Maldivian families at UAE.

The ministry have requested to fill the application form to deliver care packages, and added each family is subjected to a total of 15kgs worth of items.

Items that are allowed on care packages include necessary food items not easily available from foreign countries.

Care package items for delivery will be received at the special counter at departure hall of Velana International Airport (VIA), on Thursday, 16 April from 09:00hrs until 15:00hrs.

Maldives government have facilitated in the delivery of care packages to locals stuck at India, Sri Lanka and even Malaysia.
