Health Protection Agency HPA says 59 individuals were tested for global pandemic Covid-19 today.

Briefing local reporters on the latest Covid-19 related updates in Maldives, HPA’s Medical Officer Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said test samples were taken from 59 individuals placed under quarantine at various facilities.

Dr. Nazla said a total of 2500 samples have been taken to test for Covid-19 here in the Maldives and those tested positive remained at 19. Dr. Nazla added that 2471 samples have tested negative for the virus and that 10 samples were pending in the laboratory.

Nineteen people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives including 4 Maldivians. Officials said these four Maldivians all came back from the UK where the illness is rampant.

They are the only Covid-19 patients currently under treatment here in the Maldives.
