Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali says tele classes would be held for students of key stages one and two with schools now closed for another week.
Addressing the media at Dharubaaruge Minister Dr. Aishath said that these tele classes would start next Sunday.
The Minister clarified that tele classes were now held for students of grades 7,8,9, 10 and 11. She added classes via TV for lower grades would be broadcasted next week.
Education Minister said the Ministry has prepared a learning pack for UKG, LKG and foundation level students. She said these are play-based packs that would involve parents and students. Dr. Aishath added that although these would not count as lessons they are activities parents could complete with the students.
The Minister highlighted that telecommunication services Ooredoo and Dhiraagu remain committed to giving students and parents one month’s data allowance for free. She also noted that UNICEF, World Bank and others have offered funding and logistical support to ensure online education in such circumstances.
Schools in the country have been closed since they shut down for the mid term break on the 5th of March.
