A report published by the Malaysia Ministry of Health says a Maldivian national living in the country has tested positive for global pandemic Covid-19.
The country's Health Ministry listed the individuals that tested positive for Covid-19 today in Malaysia which included foreigners from 26 countries. Maldives was among the countries mentioned in the list.
Maldivian Highcommission in Malaysia said it was clarifying whether a Maldivian national had been tested positive in the country and were contacting the relevant authorities.
The Government has yet to comment on the matter.
Previously media reports from the UAE said a Maldivian national was among those tested positive for the highly contagious virus in the country.
But official spokesperson for Covid-19 updates Mohamed Mabroul Azeez contradicted this report saying the individual in question had a eastern European name.
