Health Protection Agency HPA says samples will be taken from a Maldivian national who was identified as a direct contact of a foreigner who tested positive for the virus after leaving the Maldives.
In a tweet, HPA said the sample was taken after the individual showed Covid-19 like symptoms. HPA added that the individual is currently at a isolation facility.
A Turkish national who worked in Joali Maldives and R. Bodufushi tested positive for Covid-19 after departing Maldives on the 31st of March. Maldivian officials were notified of the positive result last Monday.
Authorities have since been carrying out contact tracing for the individual with 33 staffs from Joali Maldives among those identified as direct contacts of the infected individual and have been isolated.
Officials have said other direct contacts of the individual include airport transfer crew, airport ground crew and flight crew.
